Hi - I'm using Joomla to create a page - the URL is http://soumikbhat.thetravellersweb.in/

My question is - can I remove the Header Joomla Logo and the footer - 'Powered by Joomla' ?

For the footer you have to edit the footer.php .. Its all in your folder where you have installed joomla. You can eve do with general config in your admin panel for the date , site heading .. Etc.

If your not good at coding , and are a newbie to joomla I suggest you make a page with wordpress , wordpress is easy to use as well as gives your great output and good for beginers.

I'm comfortable only with HTML that generates static webpages.....I've removed the footer.php file - so the footer has simply vanished

I'm thinking of removing Joomla and installing Wordpress if that's what you suggest - I hope that's there in Softaculous....

Great to see you sorted that out. Yes you can use html in wordpress also and install different themes on wordpress if you don't like the default. We do have the latest version of wordpress in softaculous.

"Proudly powered by WordPress" - I don't think this can be removed, can it?

Also its not that I want a blog - I want to build my homepage for my website....I'm merely trying or experimenting the scripts on my page.....

Yes! you can remove that ! and yes it comes like a blog but you can search custom themes on google and install wordpress website themes.It will then look more of a website.

You can even use drupal or any cms.

Drupal is an amazing cms, Joomla is very vulnerable cms, if you want my advice, try Drupal

Yeah even there is another one - cms 2.0 , its good too.
